Ars-en-Ré and Loix
Saltworks

Situated in the north of the island, the saltworks are the ideal place for nature lovers. Stroll around the saltwater frames and enjoy the environment. White gold is still grown in these salt marshes. The sun reflecting off the water will add something special to your pictures.

La Flotte-en-Ré
The Abbey of the Châteliers

Close to the cliffs overlooking the sea, the remains of this abbey stand out in nature. Built in the 12th century, it has survived the centuries and suffered the ravages of wars. It has been destroyed and then rebuilt many times. Today some of the walls remain and the façade is still intact. The roof is non-existent. When visiting this building, you will be transported back in time. The architecture of this historical place is perfect to be immortalized in a photo. In addition, the poppy field along the road adds a touch of colour.

Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré
The crossing of the beach of the gollandières

In order to access the beach of Les Gollandières you have to take a long wooden ramp. This bridge crosses the dunes, dotted with vegetation, and offers a breathtaking view of the sea. This is the typical image you have of the Ile de Ré before visiting it. A path leads you to the white sand with the sea in the background, which stretches to infinity.

Les Portes-en-Ré
The streets and typical flowers of the island

You have certainly seen pictures of the streets of the island. With its white houses and shutters in pastel, blue or green colours as well as the Trémières roses, the emblematic flowers of the island. These small streets are ideal for capturing the ancient charm of the city.

Rivedoux-Plage
The Ile de Ré bridge

Its opening in 1988 made it possible to link the Ile de Ré to La Rochelle by land. If crossing the bridge by car is paying, taking a photo of it is free. This almost 3 km long structure is used every day by hundreds of cars. For some, the bridge marks the beginning of a holiday to an island paradise. At nightfall, the shadows of the spans will come to sublimate your photos with a landscape of the bridge over the sea in the background.

Saint-Martin-de-Ré and La Couarde-sur-Mer
Its boats

Ships setting sail or boats moored in the harbour provide an idyllic setting for photos in a place so surrounded by the sea. The Ile de Ré would not be the Ile de Ré without its boats. Go near the harbours and admire the scene of the ships lined up in a row.

Saint-Clément-des-Baleines
The Whale Lighthouse

First lit in 1854, it was built to warn sailors of the dangers of the coasts. It is one of the highest lighthouses in France. You can climb the few steps (257 to be precise) which will give you a 360 degree panorama of the coast. The lighthouse is an emblematic place of the Ile de Ré and will be perfect for your photos.

Sainte-Marie-de-Ré
Sunsets on the beach

The sea and the sand are a must on the Ile de Ré. This village has two beaches, the beach of Grenettes and the beach of Montamer. Why not rent a villa near the beach so that you can walk on the fine sand at the end of the day. The sunset is a unique and colourful picture amidst the birds flying the beautiful sky.
