During your walks, do not hesitate to stop in one of the huts of the 62 oyster farmers to discover the products of the sea. An ancestral know-how and a production cycle that requires patience, do not miss this typical product of the island. La Cabane Océane

Opened in 2000, the shack exports its production to La Rochelle and other countries as well as offering it in its oyster bar. On the menu, shellfish, but also local products depending on the day. On the terrace, enjoy a meal based on fresh products facing the ocean. Find the fruit of their production and other products (soups, shellfish) in their shop from April to November and all year round at the Marché de la Flotte. The oyster bar is open from April to October, you can eat on the spot or take your dishes away.
 

Au QG de la mer

From April to September, the HQ of the Sea offers oysters and seafood, plates or platters. Enjoy your oysters in comfort under straw umbrellas, facing the sea. The oysters are freshly picked from the tank on the terrace. Accessible by car, but also on foot or by bike, near the cycle track that links La Couarde to Saint-Martin. This little corner of paradise is the second hut of Didier Fournier, who also owns Ré Ostréa.

La Cabane du Feneau

This small white hut in the heart of the salt marshes will instantly transport you into a holiday atmosphere. On the menu, discover oysters, seafood and regional products. Sit around a table with your family in a rural setting. The hut is accessible by bike or car from the Couarde to Ars track. Open from July to mid-September.
 

Ré Ostrea

Facing the Indian Ocean, perched on colourful high chairs, enjoy a seafood platter. From April to October, you can taste the delights of the sea, accompanied by a glass of wine. The oysters on offer come in 3 different sizes. A breathtakingly authentic spot. It is possible to choose a seafood or oyster platter to take away. If you come in the evening, you can enjoy the sunset from the tree trunk tables.

La Ferme des Baleines

Route des Portes, 17590 Saint-Clément-des-Baleines
It is possible to book a visit and a tasting, from April to October, on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Thematic visits can be requested for groups. Immerse yourself behind the scenes of this aquaculture farm. Seafood and shellfish (clams, prawns, sea bream and oysters), but also plants are produced in the marshes. Discover the authentic taste of oysters raised in the marshes. These products (oysters, sea lettuce, samphire) are also available for direct sale on their online shop.
