A weekend in Les Portes-en-Ré

Only a few hours by car from Paris, Ile de Ré, the small jewel of Charente-Maritime is the ideal destination for those who want to recharge their batteries and forget their daily life for a weekend. This island connected to France by the famous Ile de Ré Bridge, has everything to please: peaceful beaches with fine sand, traditional markets, charming streets in which to get lost and above all, a breathtaking gastronomy, how not to bathe in joy! Villanovo accompanies you on a guided tour of Portes-en-Ré, one of the 10 villages in the northwest of the island.

Where to stay?

The perfect weekend starts with a perfect villa. Villanovo recommends the superb villa Trousse Chemise, located at the tip of the island, a stone's throw from the Golf de Trousse- Chemise and its 18 holes. This single-storey house will not fail to seduce you with its charm and authenticity. In addition to its 5 rooms with a soothing decor, the Villa Trousse Chemise includes a heated swimming pool, a fitness room, and a summer courtyard, ideal for an aperitif with friends after a day on the bike around the salt marshes.

A day at the beach

Les Portes-en-Ré has a variety of beaches, all more beautiful than the other to please everyone, both adults and children! For surfers, the Ptit Bec is the ultimate beach. The kites overlooking the beach at the end of the day give it its charm, as well as its impressive sunset.  For those who prefer to swim in calmer waters with little wind, Trousse-Chemise beach is what you are looking for. Renowned for the Banc du Bûcheron, a sandy tongue that stretches over more than a kilometre, visible at low tide, this beach allows you to enrich your knowledge of the heritage of Ré while having fun at the same time.

Taste the local cuisine

Taste the local cuisine

It would not be acceptable to leave Ile de Ré without getting a taste of the many products for which the Island is famous. When you think of Île de Ré, you think of salted caramel. The latter is located at the Marché des Portes-en-Ré, a popular, friendly and authentic market. Located on the Place de la Liberté, it is opposite the famous café La Bazenne, which is the ideal place to enjoy a croissant and drink coffee in the morning while reading your newspaper, or a glass of local wine in the early evening. For seafood lovers, Villanovo recommends the Chasse Marée, where you will have the opportunity to taste local shellfish, fish and oysters in a cordial atmosphere.
